Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family moved abroad when she was only three years old. Summer attended American as well as British schools as her family was living abroad. Her return to Pasadena, California just before her 14th birthday. Summer was only five years old when she began to fall in love with acting and began her first acting class. Nine months after, she signed a contract with an agent/manager, and started her full-time profession. In her spare time, she goes to college and is studying for her degree. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress – Spirit Award. When she was 14, Bishil began to take acting classes. Within a year Bishil was offered an agreement by a manager or agency. Bishil was first seen on the Nickelodeon TV series Just for Kicks. She has since appeared in various other shows for children. In 2007, she was the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead the film adaptation of his novel. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most genuine thing in a film which, in spite of its noble intentions, is completely fake and a little embarrassing, much like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the top natural film actress ever. Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead stated that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) provides a compelling and stunning performance as Jasira. "In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer's project Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which garnered praise from Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was selected to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel never produced.
