ALEX MORGAN BIO

Morgan was born on July 2, 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. Morgan and her siblings Jeni and Jeri were raised in Diamond Bar, Los Angeles. Morgan played a variety of sports throughout her childhood but she was not a fan of soccer until she reached 14. Morgan was a member of the Cypress Elite club team and won the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. She also placed third place in the bracket for under-19 players. Morgan was able to continue to improve her soccer skills at Diamond Bar High School. National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) picked her as an All-American Athlete. She also played in the Olympic Development Division's regional and state divisions. Morgan continued her soccer career at UC Berkeley where she was the California Golden Bears' leading scorer in the first year of her career. She helped bring the team into the NCAA Tournament all four years and made it into the second round twice. Morgan was one of four finalists for Honda Sports Award. She was also the first Hermann Trophy finalist from her school. Following her graduation early in 2010, Morgan was ranked third in all-time scoring goals and points for Berkeley. Morgan was able to maintain soccer careers at the national and college levels during her time at Berkeley. Morgan suffered an ACL injury the first time she played for Berkeley. It prevented her from taking part in U.S. women's soccer under 20 until April 2008. Following that she scored her first international goal in the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Mexico. Morgan was also a part-time player at the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. She scored four goals and earned her team a gold-medal. One of these goals was a win over Italy that secured the U.S. team the final spot in the 2011 World Cup. Morgan was the youngest player in the team and was the one to lead the team to victory over France. Morgan was the team's youngest player, and helped the team win against Japan.
